Notes - "John Swearingen was 18 years old, and Mary Ray was 16 when they were married in 1715. They lived together as man and wife for 84 years; one lived to be 100, and the other, 102. They had 15 children and raised 12 to adulthood. Our ancestor, Ann Swearingen was one of these children, who scattered over the country.
"John and Mary settled on Rock Creek not far from the present Washington County, Maryland. John received thirty pounds [sterling] from his father's estate. He was a prosperous planter and owned considerable land." -- Bond, Marian Saunders. Some Ancestors. p. 11
