He notes that the couple were married under the care of the Nottingham monthly meeting as the Hopewell meeting had not yet been officially established. This was the first marriage in the Shenandoah Valley of Friends -- The Mackeys and Allied Families, pp. 150-151. Dee Ann (Shipp) Buck also gives the December date for the marriage.
